On 20 March 2017, Thai-EU FLEGT Secretariat Office, under Permission Bureau, Royal Forest Department, held the first meeting of National FLEGT Committee at Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment. The objective of this meeting is to consider the issues that will be put in the FLEGT VPA Negotiation between Thailand and EU. Mr.Wijarn Simachaya, Permanent Secretary of Ministry, was the Chairman of this meeting. Moreover, Mr.Banjong Wongsrisoontorn, Director of TEFSO, explained negotiation structure, improving of related commands, cabinet resolution towards FLEGT VPA, and FLEGT VPA progress in Thailand.
For the schedule of Thai-EU FLEGT VPA Negotiation, the meeting proposed to set the first negotiation on 27-30 June 2017. Then, TEFSO is going to coordinate with EU representative to ensure the actual schedule later. RFD, as the host of the Negotiation, will prepare information so that Thailand will get the highest advantages from the Negotiation.
