The Ad-Hoc Working Group met to discuss experiences and exchange queries about the UK and EU timber import control

The fourth AHWG meeting was held virtually on 29 April and 1 May 2020. The meeting aims to increase the working group’s understanding of timber import control focusing on the post-import type and the due diligence process. 52 participants from multi-stakeholder working group and relevant organizations attended the meeting.

The two-day meeting consisted of video presentations from government authorities and relevant organizations from public and private sectors that are involved in the UK and EU import control. This was possible thanks in large part to Forest Trend, the main coordinator under the Timber Regulation Enforcement Exchange (TREE) project, who prepared the presentations and facilitated the interviews.

The working group learned from the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) about the competent authority’s working procedures and product inspection methods. Soil Association and NEPCon clarified the role of a monitoring organization. And Track Record Global shared their works and experiences as a due diligence solutions provider.
