Thai Ad-Hoc Working Group to Erect Sub-Working Groups of Public Disclosure of Information, SCC on Public Land, and Reclaimed Timber

On April 3rd, 2019, Mr. Yanyong Kangkarn, the director of the Forest Economic Office, led the 3rd FLEGT Ad-hoc working group meeting of 2019. The meeting aimed to provide updates on field test guidelines of import control and import control paper development as well as on development of Thai timber assurance system (TLAS) and supply chain control (SCC) paper presented by Ms. Pawinee Udommai, the consultant in developing the import control paper and SCC and TLAS paper. Also the updates on supply chain control on private was provided by the Federation of the Thai industries (FTI). Moreover, updates on relevant projects were presented.

During the meeting, it was concluded that sub-working group would further discuss for conclusion over language usage of FLEGT license in TH and about reclaimed timber on where in the import control diagram it should be put including the evaluation of due diligence whether it remained necessary and acceptable by TH stakeholders.

The meeting also agreed to establish sub-working groups on independent observer network, public disclosure of information (annex IX), supply chain control on public land, and reclaimed timber sub-working groups. For the  independent observer network, public disclosure of information (annex IX), and supply chain control on public land will be led by RECOFTC while the reclaimed timber sub-working group will be led by Mr. Somporn Kongtanakritkorn, SmEs facilitator to EU FLEGT Facility, EFI.

The next Ad-hoc working group meeting (AHWG4/2019) will be held on June 12th, 2019.
