The objectives of “Mini-field test” of the draft Legality Definition under FLEGT VPA  process  are;

1. Advance reflections on further improvements to the LD;
2. Clarify workability of verifiers and verification procedures,
3. Prepare more comprehensive field testing of the complete LD including elements raised in the gap/issue papers.

The Mini-field test of LD was arranged during September 22-24, 2016. The participants from European Forest Institute (EFI), CSOs, Government Sectors and TEFSO officers attended the workshop. The groups visited ;

Day 1: 22 Sep’16

1. Visit to plantation cooperative member(s): Tambon Ta-Mai, Chantaburi
   1. Collect verifiers of LD Module 3 (plantation on public land) – Principles 1, 2, 3 and 5 (Subset of indicators to be selected prior to the visit)

Day 2: 23 Sep’16

1. Visit to a local RFD office and/or checkpoint
   • Confirm verification process of LD module 2 (Principles 1, 2, 3 and 5) above: FIO area, Suan Pa Khlong Takrao, Chachuengsao
   • Collect verifiers of LD Module 4 and confirm verification process: Kabinburi checkpoint, Chachuengsao

Day 3: 24 Sep’16

1. Visit to a wood processing mill (e.g. furniture or wood panels): Sinjaroen Vineer and Plywood Company, Bangbuathong, Nonthaburi
   • Collect verifiers of LD module 5 (processing operators) – all Principles (Subset of indicators to be selected prior to the visit).
