23 Sept. 2021 – With a push from the FLEGT VPA process, Thailand has committed to improving its existing Thai Timber Legality Assurance System (THA-TLAS), enhancing the system’s efficiency in verifying legality and supply chain of Thai timber and timber products with the emphasis on timber traceability.

Study under the FLEGT VPA showed all mills in Thailand have a risk management system, though some micro-scaled mills still lag behind due to lack of resources and information, guidelines to assist mills on timber verification and risk mitigation will be introduced soon
20 Aug. 2021 – The 8th FLEGT VPA ad-hoc working group was held to: review the findings of the study on primary mills’ operation to ensure the legality of incoming timbers; discuss publicity and capacity building activities to promote self-declaration on private land; discuss the self-declaration guideline for reclaimed timber.
