On 11-13 March 2019, Thai – EU FLEGT Secretariat Office (TEFSO) had arranged the first EFI technical meeting in 2019 led by Mr. Alexander Hinrichs and Mr. Morne Van Linde from EFI and Mr. Poramin Wongsuwat, the Deputy General of Royal Forest Department. The meeting aimed to discuss in detail on the paper of each annex of the VPA.
On 11 March 2019, there were discussion over the revised version of import control paper presented by Ms Pawinee Udommai and import control sub-working group. Ms. Pawinee as the consultant to drafting the import control paper will then call for a sub- working group meeting and revise the paper based on the discussion before submitting the paper to the EU. In the afternoon of the same day, the discussion over supply chain control was discussed. Ms. Pawinee who is also the consultant of drafting the supply chain control (SCC) and TLAS paper will close coordinate with EFI and the SCC sub-working group in order to revise the paper in mid-May.
On 12 March 2019, the Timber Legality Assurance Meeting (TLAS) had been discussed. The sub-working group will be arranged to endorse the paper within May 2019. The Independent Audit will be drafted by EFI. Thailand would be able to revise the draft and submit to EU by June 2019. This annex will be also putting forward to the discussion with EU. Public Disclosure Annex will not bring forward to the next Negotiation. However, Thai will draft the annex based on the guidance provided by EFI and discussion in sub-working group.
On 13 March 2019, the supply chain control on private land was also discussed. The Facility will work on the minute and provide comment in-detail on the paper within next week. While in April, the sub-working group meeting will be arranged to revise the paper and then submit the revised paper in June 2019 to the EU.
