On 28 November 2017, Thai EU FLEGT secretariat office arranged The 4th FLEGT VPA Ad-Hoc Working Group at Maruay Gardens Hotel, Bangkok, which has Mr. Banjong Wongsrisoontorn the Director of Forest Certification Office as a chairman of the meeting.
The key points from the fourth meeting of an Ad-hoc working group are the following:
- Mr. Banjong Wongsrisoontorn presented TEFSO work plan in 2018.
- TEFSO launched a new communication platform through LINE@ Official.
- Ms. Pawinee Udommai, LD Field Test consultant, briefly presented suggestions from LD Field Test. The meeting received those suggestions and assigned the consultant to send a full report to publish for Ad-Hoc Working Group for comments.
- The meeting considered that financial support for hiring an external consultant to revise LD is necessary. Thus, TEFSO was assigned to coordinate in finding the supporter.
- Mr. Phiyaphong Thammapanya, representative from TFCC presented a revised version of Importing Timber Control. The meeting reached the conclusion that agenda item 5.2 should be moved to notifications because the TFCC presentation was intended to present the framework for fundraising. Thus, TFCC was assigned to write a description of Due diligence System(DDS) operation for importing timber control.
- Mr. Banjong Wongsrisoontorn presented unregulated species verification on private land. The meeting resolved to revise the flowchart and assign involved institutes to write a description of the four ways as follow;
(1) Self-declaration (SD) is the charge of Private Forest Plantation Cooperative Limited.
(2) e–Tree is the charge of Forest Certification Office, Royal Forest Department.
(3) Plantation Act is the charge of Private Reforestation Division, Royal Forest Department.
(4) Thai Industrial Standard (TIS) is the charge of Thailand Forest Certification Council (TFCC) ; These four institutes have to send the description in both Thai and English version to TEFSO by the 4th of this December for preparation of the next technical meeting between EFI and AHWG of Thai on the 8th December.
