On 1o July 2018, Thai – EU FLEGT Secretariat Office hold a sub-committee meeting at the Royal Forest Department, Bangkok, Thailand, leading by Mr Pralong Damrongthai, an Inspector General of The Ministry of National Resources and Environment.
This meeting aimed to provide the update on Thai forest policy development and on the Third Joint Expert Meeting’s results, also, to prepare for the Forth Joint Expert Meeting (JEM4) and the Second Negotiation (NEG2) between Thailand and the European Union. During the meeting, there were discussions over the negotiating direction related to legality definition revision, verification of timber on private land, import controls, supply chain controls, Product Scope, Thai legality assurance system (TLAS), and VPA legal text. Minutes taker for JEM4 and NEG2 was also discussed.
However, these directions will be brought to the National FLEGT Committee attending the Joint Expert Meeting and Negotiation for further discussion and preparation.
