On 21st August, 2015 Representative from Food and Agriculture of United Nations (FAO), Mr.Bruno Cammaert, Forestry Officer who responses on FLEGT Program in Thailand and Thai-EU FLEGT Secretariat Office (TEFSO) staffs was met Mr. Pralong Damrongthai, Deputy Director of Royal Forest Department for discussion on FLEGT VPA operation in Thailand. Mr. Pralong welcomed and thank you Mr. Bruno on funds supporting such as human resource, equipment and meeting arrangement to proceeding FLEGT VPA process in Thailand.
- Pralong informed that Thailand will have the Video Conference with EU on October 2015 and he was assigned by DG to be lead on this conference.
- Bruno discussed on the kick-off event on consultation workshop that will arrange on 21st September 2015 and regional workshops. Mr. Pralong will speed up TEFSO to proceed as planned.
Lastly, the meeting had discussed on the TEFSO’s structure base on Indonesia’s structure, which provide faster proceed by directly reporting line to Chief of Negotiation. Moreover, Indonesia will be the first country in Asia to issue FLEGT license recently. Mr. Pralong advised Thailand should learn from Indonesia’s experience and adapt to Thailand’s context.
