LD Sub-Working Group Meets to Find Their Way in Revising the Legality Definition

On 1st June 2018, Thai-EU FLEGT Secretariat Office (TEFSO) had arranged a sub-working group on Legality Definition (LD) at TEFSO meeting room. The meeting led by Ms. Pavinee Udommai, an LD Revision consultant.

Thailand has developed a draft document of Legality definition and its field test. The field test aimed to test its indicator and verifiers was developed during August to September 2017. Its result had been brought into discussi0n in the working group and NFC meeting before sending to EFI for more additional comments.

During the JEM3 meeting, Thailand had reported the LD field-test result before bringing to a discussion to receive the meeting’s opinions. By this regard, the EU suggested Thailand sort the field-test-based suggestions by priority and to include EFI’s comments for consideration in revising the LD document to be in accordance with Thai law and context. However, EFI is available to provide a technical support for LD document revision by hiring a domestic consultant.

Therefore, Miss Pavinee Udommai, the consultant for LD revision, had discussed with the LD sub-working group and aimed to discuss what issues should be orderly revised by priority according to the field-test result. However, its revision will go together with Thai domestic law and regulation followup in order to improve this annex as well as to make appropriate with logging of Thailand.

However, the consultant would collect the received opinions and suggestions to adjust and revise the document for the further process. After that, she will propose the revised document to the ad-hoc working group before bringing into the next technical between Thailand and EFI.
