14 September 2017 – Thai EU FLEGT secretariat office arranged The first Technical Meeting between AHWG and EFI at Rama Gardens Hotel , Bangkok, which has Mr.Chonlatid Suraswadi the General Director of Royal Forestry Department as a chairman of the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss about unregulated species on private land.
The resolution of the meeting are as follows:
- EFI Introduces Vietnam’s Wood Import Control by using Due Dilligence system (DDS) which consists of 1. Data gathering 2. Risk assessment 3. Risk mitigation
- Thailand agrees to develop DDS to control wood imports by developing CO+. However, it should be discussed with the harvesting country, for instance, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos etc. And TFCC is the leader of this process.
- Representative from The Tree Bank presented the self-manifestation for unregulated species on private land. And TFCC is the leader of this process too.
- SME study in the Mekong River Basin, in 2 years from 2017 to 2019, The main purpose is to assess the ability of the SmE. The methodology is to use research, meeting, training, questionnaire, data gathering to lead to SmE development in the Mekong River Basin.
- EFI informed that ROM will assess the operation of EU FLEGT Facilities Will meet to talk individually to stakeholders in various sectors which is coordinated directly from the ROM.
